Which University of Liverpool Campus Are You On?

The University of Liverpool is a major institution with a range of sites across the North West and overseas. Whether you are based in the historic heart of the city or the rural setting of the Wirral, finding your perfect local spot starts with knowing exactly where your lectures will be held. At Homes for Students, we believe that being close to your department makes the transition into university life much smoother.

Which University of Liverpool Campus Are You On?

Campus Name Primary Faculty / Focus Location Type
Knowledge Quarter Main Hub (Health, Science, Humanities) Liverpool City Centre
Leahurst Campus Veterinary Science Neston, South Wirral
XJTLU Campus Joint Venture Institution Suzhou, China

What is Life in the Knowledge Quarter Like?

The Knowledge Quarter is the main city centre campus and likely where you will spend most of your time if you are studying within the three main faculties of Health and Life Sciences, Science and Engineering, or Humanities and Social Sciences. This 450-acre innovation district is home to the iconic red brick Victoria Gallery & Museum and the Liverpool Guild of Students.

Because it is located right in the heart of Liverpool, everything is within reach. You can enjoy the stunning architecture of Abercromby Square or grab a coffee between lectures in the Central Campus zone near the Metropolitan Cathedral. Students here enjoy a fast-paced, connected lifestyle with the city’s culture, music, and nightlife just a short walk away.

How do I Get to Leahurst Campus?

If you are a Veterinary Science student, particularly in your fourth or fifth year, you will likely be based at the Leahurst Campus. This site is located in Neston, Cheshire, which is approximately 12 miles south of the main Liverpool city centre.

While it offers a major hub for equine and small animal teaching hospitals, it is a more rural setting than the main city site. Students mainly travel between the two locations by car. The journey usually takes around an hour from the city centre, though many students choose to live on the Wirral for convenience during their final years.

What About the XJTLU Campus

The XJTLU Campus (Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University) is a unique international partnership located in Suzhou, China. It consists of the SIP campus and the Taicang campus. For students on the 2+2 programme, the first two years are spent in Suzhou before moving to the Liverpool campus for the final two years of study.

The university generally assists international students with booking local accommodation, such as the Parfait International Apartments or Wenhua Apartments, once they have an unconditional offer.
