The Glastonbury Festival 2025 Student Guide: What to Know Before You Go
Glastonbury Festival 2025 is one of the biggest music events of the year, with over 200,000 attendees descending on Somerset for the weekend!
There are some fantastic music festivals in the UK, and we’ve written guides for most of them to help you choose the right festival for you and your friends each year and great time to get away from your student accommodation.
This includes our ultimate guide to Leeds Festival, giving you pointers on how to get there, how to prepare, what to look out for etc. It would be wrong not to write a guide to Glastonbury, the most famous and largest of all the festivals!
What is Glastonbury Festival?
Since Worthy Farm in Somerset first hosted the music festival back in 1970 it has been a location that has hosted all the great names in music.
Apart from the odd fallow year to allow the ground and farmland to recover, ‘Glasto’ has become possibly the biggest music festival on the planet.
Bands and artists from all over the world feel privileged to play a set, whether they’re on the Pyramid Stage or one of the countless smaller stages and areas of the site.
It isn’t just bands and music that you’ll find at Glastonbury Festival 2025. There are hundreds of visual artists, dancers, actors, poetry readings, and much more.
It’s a broad place of festival-goers here, with a family-friendly atmosphere at one extreme and all-night parties at the other.
There’s great food to be found throughout the site, and amazing sights everywhere you turn. It’s like a mini city break over a long weekend. Just be prepared for the mud!
When is Glastonbury Festival 2025?
This year, Glastonbury Festival will be held from June 25th to June 29th.
Who is playing Glastonbury Festival 2025?
There are over 100 stages and other performance areas over the wider site of Glastonbury, so no matter what you want to experience, you’ll find it here. Some visitors go the whole weekend without seeing any live music or the traditional stages at all!
This year, the Pyramid Stage is set to be headlined by Neil Young, The 1975, and Olivia Rodrigo. Rod Stewart plays the now legendary Legend Slot, and other performers you can expect to see include Charlie XCX, Jorja Smith, Wolf Alice, Raye, Alanis Morissette, and Loyle Carner to name just a few of the hundreds of artists and bands.
Glastonbury Festival and inclusivity
The organisers of Glastonbury want to create an environment that is inclusive, safe, and welcoming to all.
This is reflected in the lineup of artists who are invited to perform, focusing on diversity and representation on a platform that authentically amplifies voices from all musical backgrounds.
Glastonbury Festival and the environment
The environment is another important part of the Glastonbury Festival organisation. It has a commitment to sustainability, implementing practices that reduce waste and lower carbon emissions, through partnering with green organisations.

How to prepare for Glastonbury Festival 2025
When to arrive
Arriving at the festival shouldn’t be a chore, but it’s important to figure out a clear plan before you go, as there are so many people arriving at similar times that it can get a bit messy.
The site opens at 4pm on the Tuesday, though entertainment and amenities don’t open until Wednesday. This does allow you an easier time to enter the site and set-up with fewer people around. Overnight Tuesday and Wednesday morning is when most people arrive.
Plan your transport
You’ll need a car pass to drive and park on site or pay £60 on the day. There are loads of coach and ticket packages each year to take advantage of and it takes the stress of planning out of your hands.
There is also a train station about 8 miles from the festival site, with free shuttle buses running throughout the duration. This is recommended as a way to lower carbon emissions.
Where to stay?
Camping is the main mode of accommodation at Glastonbury, with general camping areas, family camping, accessible camping, and plenty of options.
There are also glamping options on site for those looking for something a little more comfortable, and you can also stay in caravans or motorhomes on site.
If you don’t mind leaving the site each night and returning the next day there are a string of hotels and B&Bs nearby, though these tend to sell out very quickly.
What to pack
There are some essentials that you need to pack for Glastonbury Festival 2025:
• A good quality tent
• A warm and comfortable sleeping bag
• All-weather accessories – sunglasses, extra layers, raincoat, sun cream, a hat
• Toiletries
• Portable phone charger
• A camping stove and non-perishable goods
• A camping chair
• Earplugs
• Medical kit
Stay hydrated and plan your meals
It’s always important to stay hydrated throughout the day. You’ll spend a lot of time on your feet and out and about, so remember to carry a refillable bottle with you and top up at water stations throughout the day top stay hydrated.
If you pack well with non-perishable goods to cook around a portable stove as you camp, you can plan some of your meals ahead of time, although there are plenty of food vendors on site if you don’t want to feed yourself.
How to get home
At the end of a glorious weekend, everyone is trying to leave at the same time, and it can sometimes be mayhem.
Be mindful of the organisers and your fellow travellers. Pack up and clean up after yourself before you depart. Be patient and always expect some delays, whether you are leaving by car, bus, or train.
